Tokyo: Stocks open higher on Tuesday

[TOKYO] Tokyo stocks opened slightly higher on Tuesday as investors chased firms showing favourable earnings, though a strong yen hurt sentiment.

The benchmark Nikkei 225 index edged up 0.03 per cent, or 6.14 points, to 19,931.32 in early trading, while the Topix index of all first-section issues was up 0.12 per cent, or 1.93 points, at 1,620.54.
