Tokyo: Stocks open higher on US-China trade rumours

[TOKYO] Tokyo stocks opened higher on Friday, tracking gains on Wall Street as investors took heart from a report the US could lift trade tariffs on China.

The benchmark Nikkei 225 index rose 0.27 per cent or 54.56 points to 20,456.83 in early trade while the broader Topix index was up 0.27 per cent or 4.15 points at 1,547.35.
