Tokyo: Stocks open lower

[TOKYO] Tokyo stocks opened lower on Wednesday as a higher yen, on the backdrop of worries about US President Donald Trump's relations with the Congress, weighed on exporters.

The benchmark Nikkei 225 index fell 0.12 per cent, or 23.57 points, to 19,976.34 in the first minutes of trading while the Topix index of all first-section issues was down 0.20 per cent, or 3.25 points, at 1,617.23.
