[TOKYO] Tokyo stocks opened lower on Wednesday, as worries about higher interest rates continued to dog the market following testimony in the US Congress from new Federal Reserve chief Jerome Powell.

The benchmark Nikkei 225 index slipped 0.42 per cent, or 94.05 points, to 22,295.81 in early trade while the broader Topix index was down 0.30 per cent, or 5.31 points, at 1,785.03.
