Tokyo: Stocks open lower after record run of gains

[TOKYO] Tokyo's bellwether Nikkei stock index opened lower on Tuesday, taking a breather after its longest winning streak in its nearly 70-year history and retreats from record levels on Wall Street.
The Nikkei 225 index, which on Monday logged its 15th consecutive rise, lost 0.20 per cent, or 42.73 points, to 21,653.92 in the first few minutes of trading.
The broader Topix index slipped 0.05 per cent, or 0.94 points, to 1,744.31.
