Tokyo: Stocks open lower after Wall Street selloff

[TOKYO] Tokyo stocks opened lower on Wednesday, with investors discouraged by a sell-off on Wall Street.
The benchmark Nikkei 225 index, which fell for the fifth straight day on Tuesday, lost another 0.44 per cent or 102.52 points to 23,189.45 in early trade.
The broader Topix index was down 0.51 per cent or 9.43 points at 1,848.70.
