Tokyo: Stocks open lower ahead of China growth data
[Tokyo] Tokyo shares opened lower on Tuesday, as investors cautiously awaited the release of Chinese economic growth data later in the day amid worries about slower growth in the world's number two economy.
The benchmark Nikkei 225 index at the Tokyo Stock Exchange declined 0.31 per cent, or 53.28 points, to 16,902.29 in opening deals, while the broader Topix index of all first-section shares was down 0.39 per cent, or 5.48 points, at 1,382.45.
