Tokyo: Stocks open lower as Nikkei snaps three-day rally

[TOKYO] Tokyo stocks opened lower on Friday as traders banked profits, snapping a three-day rally following a retreat in oil prices.

The benchmark Nikkei 225 index at the Tokyo Stock Exchange lost 0.82 per cent, or 143.15 points, to 17,220.47 in opening deals, while the broader Topix index of all first-section shares dropped 0.92 per cent, or 12.76 points, to 1,380.92.
