Tokyo: Stocks open lower despite global gains

[TOKYO] Tokyo stocks opened lower Monday, despite gains on Wall Street and in Europe, putting the benchmark Nikkei index on course to snap a five-day rally.
The Nikkei 225 shed 0.82 per cent, or 128.44 points, to 15,554.04 in opening deals.
The broader Topix index of all first-section shares fell 0.47 per cent, or 5.94 points, to 1,248.50.
