[TOKYO] Tokyo's benchmark stock index opened lower on Tuesday as investors turned cautious after six days of gains and waited for the outcome of Japan's trade talks with the United States.

The key Nikkei 225 index, which ended last week at its best level since January, slipped 0.19 per cent or 44.56 points to 23,825.37 in early trade while the broader Topix index was up 0.07 per cent or 1.33 points at 1,805.35.
