Tokyo: Stocks open lower on Monday

[TOKYO] Tokyo stocks opened lower on Monday extending losses on Wall Street as investors took profits ahead of US mid-term elections this week.
The benchmark Nikkei 225 index was down 1.25 per cent or 277.26 points at 21,966.40 in early trade, while the broader Topix index was down 0.97 per cent or 16.17 points at 1,642.59.
