Tokyo: Stocks open lower on profit taking

    [TOKYO] Tokyo stocks opened lower on Monday following declines on Wall Street, while investors cashed in on a recent rally.

    The benchmark Nikkei 225 index, which closed at a fresh one-year high on Friday, lost 0.29 per cent, or 55.31 points, to 19,345.84 in the first few minutes of trade.

    The broader Topix index of all first-section shares was down 0.21 per cent, or 3.32 points, at 1,547.35.
