Tokyo: Stocks open lower on Thursday

[TOKYO] Tokyo stocks opened lower on Thursday following Wall Street drops after minutes of the US central bank's last meeting solidified expectations for interest rate hikes ahead.
The benchmark Nikkei 225 index lost 0.78 per cent or 172.47 points to 21,798.34 in early trade while the broader Topix index was down 0.65 per cent, or 11.45 points, at 1,750.16.
