Tokyo: Stocks open lower on Wednesday

[TOKYO] Tokyo stocks opened slightly lower on Wednesday as traders stayed cautious ahead of key events including a set of Japanese economic data later this week.

The bellwether Nikkei 225 index fell 0.27 per cent, or 55.54 points, to 20,274.65 in early trade, while the broader Topix index was down 0.49 per cent, or 8.24 points, at 1,664.50.
