Tokyo: Stocks open lower on worries over Ukraine

    [TOKYO] Tokyo stocks opened sharply lower on Monday, tracking falls on Wall Street as investors reduced risky bets as the White House warned of a possible imminent Russian invasion of Ukraine.

    The benchmark Nikkei 225 index was down 1.88 per cent or 521.36 points at 27,174.72 in early trade, while the broader Topix index slipped 1.53 per cent or 30.08 points to 1,932.53. AFP
