Tokyo's Nikkei closes down after 10-day break

[TOKYO] Tokyo's key Nikkei index lost more than 1.5 per cent on Tuesday following an unprecedented 10-day break, tracking global declines after US President Donald Trump threatened new tariffs on Chinese goods.
The benchmark Nikkei 225 index fell 1.51 per cent, or 335.01 points, to close at 21,923.72, while the broader Topix index was down 1.12 per cent, or 18.09 points, at 1,599.84.
