US stocks flat ahead of earnings, July jobs report
[NEW YORK] US stocks opened little changed Monday, launching a week of key corporate earnings and economic data culminating with the July jobs report.
Dow members Pfizer and Procter & Gambler report earnings Tuesday, while Friday's July jobs report is expected to show the US added 185,000 jobs last month.
Five minutes into trade, the Dow Jones Industrial Average was at 18,426.22, down less than 0.1 per cent.
The broad-based S&P 500 dipped 0.1 per cent to 2,172.07, while the tech-rich Nasdaq Composite Index climbed less than 0.1 per cent to 5,163.30.
