Shifting perspectives
PHILIP Yuen, CEO, Deloitte Southeast Asia and Deloitte Singapore and Singapore divisional president of CPA Australia, says that leadership in the digital age calls for three shifts in perspective:
Think differently
Cognitive shift: This includes the ability to handle increased complexity, to find unmet needs and opportunities for growth, to have divergent thinking that combines different ideas, and to be decisive without having all the information.
Act differently
Behavioural shift: This includes the ability to adapt to changing situations, to collaborate across boundaries with diverse people and cultures, and to embrace the notion of experiment-fail-iterate.
React differently
Emotional shift: This includes the ability to thrive in ambiguity, to be resilient in failure and change, to be brave in challenging the way things are done, and to exude confidence in the face of disruption.
