PERSONAL data of 1,355 National University of Singapore Society (NUSS) members, including their names and NRIC numbers, have been compromised in a cybersecurity breach, The Business Times learnt on Monday (Nov 1).
The incident dates back to Oct 8, when the graduates club was informed of an intrusion on its website, which was hosted by a third party Web hosting provider. The affected members had used an online form on the NUSS website.
The society then engaged an IT forensic investigator to look into the matter. It has also contacted the affected members and reported the breach to the police and Personal Data Protection Commission.
"While investigations are ongoing, the society has taken the relevant sections of the Website offline until they are reviewed and any security issues are remedied by our Web hosting provider. The society is also actively reviewing its security measures and processes," NUSS said.
