Growing data sources plague S'pore firms: IDC
SINGAPORE companies are having a hard time keeping track of enterprise data, and the problem is only getting worse. Daniel-Zoe Jimenez, senior programme manager at IDC Asia Pacific, said data has been growing for years, but that's old news.
"Vendors always talk about the size of data, but that's been growing forever," he said. The real issue is the variety of data coming in different types, as well as from different sources.
This includes file data on customers, transactions, logs, and increasingly, machine data - raw information from systems that companies are trying to mine for advanced insight.
