IBM seen setting 2016 revenue goal of US$1b for SoftLayer
This is about 25% up from the US$700m to US$800m the unit is expected to take in this year

IBM has set an internal revenue goal for SoftLayer, its cloud-infrastructure business, of US$1 billion in 2016, a source said.
That's an increase of about a quarter from the US$700 million to US$800 million in revenue the unit is expected to take in this year, said the source.
SoftLayer, which IBM acquired in 2013, had US$335 million in sales the year before the acquisition.
The ambitious goal underscores the urgency of wringing growth from the cloud business - where software and services are delivered over the Internet - as customers shun other products from the 104-year-old company. IBM,…
