IP reliance signals need for intelligent network security
Palo Alto Networks' tool will detect, prevent, provide remediation in an attack
SINGAPORE has been at the forefront in encouraging businesses here to leverage the pervasive Internet connectivity to increase productivity and innovate new ways of working. But the increased reliance on Internet Protocol-based applications and processes means widening corporations' threat surface, and Palo Alto Networks believes this migration emphasises the need for more intelligent, proactive network security software.
According to Sharat Sinha, Asia-Pacific VP at Palo Alto Networks, this year will see a heightened need for more intelligent network security software. In this new era of securing the Internet gateways, such software will require more automated processes and in-built intelligence in order to "detect, prevent and provide remediation" should there be an attack on an organisation's network, he stated.
"This is especially important in industries such as government, education and healthcare, in which there are staffing shortages. Limited staff need maximum resources including security tools that give them the most visibility into their network traffic (yet) don't sacrifice business productivity," Mr Sinha said.
