LAST month's Formula One race here was as much a celebration of technology as it was of speed. Singapore's involvement in the technology aspect became just that much deeper this year with McLaren Applied Technologies (MAT) announcing ahead of the 2013 Singapore Grand Prix that the company has established its Asia-Pacific headquarters here. This is MAT's first office outside the UK.
MAT is one of McLaren Group's most diverse and fast-moving businesses and has a mission to achieve breakthroughs in performance using advanced technology, intelligence and design.
Interestingly, motor racing is just one of the areas in which the company operates. With expertise in modelling, simulation and design engineering, MAT has gone into markets including health and wellness, pharmaceuticals, energy and automotive.
