PCs being left behind in global digital march

Customers prefer smartphones and, to a lesser extent, tablets

EVEN as the world gets more digitally connected with a new generation of digital natives, PC makers are facing a conundrum: customers are not buying as many PCs or notebooks, save for some high-end types like ultrabooks.

The sales numbers have been on a downward spiral for the past 16 quarters. Customers prefer to buy smartphones and, to a lesser extent, tablets, instead of desktops and traditional laptops.
