SINGAPORE smartphone users, according to 25-year-old China-born entrepreneur Carl Pei, are getting bored with what's available in the smartphone market as it's "all very vanilla" now in terms of existing choices.
For that reason, the Republic makes an exciting market and is home to the regional headquarters of his latest startup OnePlus - a Shenzhen-based setup whose first self-made smartphone, the OnePlus One, sold over a million units to 16 countries in its first year, far exceeding its target of just 50,000.
