Singapore startups urged to think global
Baidu co-founder Ming Lei also says they should focus on becoming the market leader
Singapore
SINGAPORE startups were on Friday urged to "think, team and grow global" in order to succeed because the market here is just too small. The advice came from Ming Lei, a co-founder of Chinese Internet giant Baidu, which, with more than 200 million users, is part of what is known as BAT, the "holy trinity" of Chinese Internet giants Baidu, Alibaba and Tencent.
The guest speaker at the Global StartUp@Singapore seminar held at the National University of Singapore (NUS), who also built Kuwo, one of China's leading digital music companies, told his rapt 180-strong audience that choosing the right market for one's product is key.
