Domestic wholesale trade falls 6.1% in Q2
[SINGAPORE] Singapore's domestic wholesale trade fell 6.1 per cent in the second quarter of 2014 compared to a year ago, data released by the Department of Statistics showed yesterday.
The drop was largely due to the metals, timber & construction materials sector, which registered a double-digit decline of 14.9 per cent. The petroleum & petroleum products and ship chandlers & bunkering segments also fell 9.5 per cent and 8.8 per cent, respectively.
These declines offset increases in the domestic sales of other industries, including transport equipment (13.9 per cent) and general wholesale trade (13.4 per cent).
