[SINGAPORE] It seems pretty much business as usual for Japanese businesses in China despite a heightening of tensions between the two countries, said a senior economist at The Bank of Tokyo-Mitsubishi UFJ.

"Economic relationship is not so influenced by political relationship," said Hayato Nakamura of the bank's economic research office (Singapore).

He was answering questions following a media briefing on the prospects and challenges of the Japanese economy.
