Two accused remanded for another week
[SINGAPORE] Two of the Indian nationals charged for allegedly rioting in Little India were yesterday remanded in custody for another week to help in police investigations.
Moorthy Kabildev, 24, and Sathiyamoorthy Sivaraman, 36, were among the second batch of accused to have been charged in court last Wednesday, and are among the 28 being prosecuted for their involvement in the riot on Dec 8.
Both of the accused allegedly used a wooden stick to smash the windscreen of a private bus involved in a fatal traffic accident that is said to have triggered the riot. A third Indian national, 22-year-old Rajendran Ranjan - who was initially charged with them for the same offence - was, however, discharged by the court on Tuesday, as the police withdrew charges against him.
