An electric car can save you money, but only if you choose the right one

It boils down to a wide range of factors, starting with the price difference between the EV and a comparable combustion car

    CHRISTOPHER Quek, who has owned an electric BMW iX3 for 6 months, is saving almost S$200 a week by not buying petrol. As a property agent who regularly criss-crosses the island for viewings, he is definitely enjoying the benefit of switching from a combustion car.

    But rising fuel prices have made others think hard about switching to an electric car, too. According to a survey of 1,000 people by the Electric Vehicle Association of Singapore, 72 per cent of Singaporeans feel that saving money by running a car on electricity instead of petrol is the leading reason to consider buying one.
