- but as Singapore's port tops another survey, some circumspection might be in order
IT is always a good idea to be a bit sceptical about reports that make partly subjective judgements on big issues - especially when they are flattering.
Nevertheless, it is good news that the port of Singapore has emerged first in a study of 46 of the world's largest ports and cities, beating - in this order - London, Hong Kong, Rotterdam, Hamburg, Dubai and Shanghai.
Of the top 10 global shipping centres, five are in Asia, three in Europe, one in the Middle East and one in the US.
