Bukit Panjang Light Rail operations fully restored
SERVICES on the Bukit Panjang Light Rail (BPLR) were fully restored at about 4.30pm on Tuesday, after an electrical fire broke out on Monday.
SMRT said that fares for commuters travelling on the BPLR would be waived until 12 noon on Wednesday. Free public bus and bus bridging services will also continue to operate until further notice.
"We deeply apologise for the inconvenience this disruption has caused BPLR commuters," said Lee Ling Wee, managing director of SMRT Trains. "A full investigation is being conducted and we will provide details when ready."
Train service on the BPLR resumed partially at 12.30pm but only for the outer loop from Senja to Petir.
"LTA and SMRT must continue to put maximum effort and resources into this, and work towards restoring full service before the evening peak period," said Transport Minister Lui Tuck Yew in a Facebook post early Tuesday afternoon, before services were fully restored.
