CAAS and FAA sign milestone aviation-maintenance agreement
Under this, Singapore can ensure that local firms doing maintenance work on US carriers follow FAA standards

MORE business could come in for maintenance, repair and overhaul (MRO) players in Singapore, with the signing of a milestone maintenance implementation procedures (MIP) agreement between the Civil Aviation Authority of Singapore (CAAS) and the US Federal Aviation Administration (FAA).
The MIP agreement, two years in the making, is the first of its kind in Asia and was concluded under the US-Singapore Bilateral Safety Agreement (BASA) signed in 2004. This is the second agreement under BASA, following the Implementation Procedures for Airworthiness inked between FAA and CAAS in 2004.
