THE reclassification of COE Category A for small cars played a large part in helping the sale of Toyota and Mercedes-Benz to accelerate ahead in Singapore last year.
It was part of the reason Toyota returned to the top of the table last year after three years, and why 2013's best-seller Mercedes-Benz extended its lead far ahead of its traditional rival BMW, even as the brand with the three-pointed star slipped to runner-up position.
