THE open-air carpark at Changi Airport's Terminal 1 will be temporarily closed between Oct 17 and 21 for a test-run before work commences on the site that will give way to Project Jewel, the mixed-use complex slated to become a lifestyle destination linking its three existing terminals .

The car park closure will begin at 2am on Oct 17 and end at 2am on Oct 21; during that time, the existing car park in Terminal 2, dubbed '2B', will be designated for use for those looking to park in T1.

During the four days, a complimentary daily shuttle bus service complementing the Skytrain services will run at regular intervals to make it easier for passengers to travel between T1 and T2.

Meanwhile, T2 users can continue to use car park '2A'. A new South carpark, located near the entrance of the JetQuay terminal, has also been opened to add to the number of parking spaces.

In addition, the T1 arrival pick-up point will be moved to a new location outside the T1 arrival hall, said airport operator Changi Airport Group (CAG).

It added: "The dry-run enables CAG to assess the operational effectiveness of its proposed measures, and to make enhancements where necessary, before the actual closure of the open-air car park."

That actual closure date will be announced in due course.

The airport operator said road signs and lane markings along the roadways leading to and within Changi Airport will be in place to help guide motorists; airport staff and traffic marshalls will also be on hand to help both airport users and motorists during those four days.
