Dubai airport to add gates for A380 double-deckers
[DUBAI] Dubai airport said on Monday it will add 10 gates capable of handling A380 planes to keep up with the expansion of Emirates airline, which has the world's largest fleet of the double-deckers.
The number of gates will total 47, "more than any other airport in the world", Dubai Airports said in a statement.
The aim is to "enable the facility to accommodate Emirates' growing fleet of superjumbos", it said.
Dubai-owned Emirates is the world's largest operator of A380 with 80 planes in its fleet and 62 more on order.
Dubai airport is the world's third busiest, but it is the largest in terms of international travellers.
