Early closure between Bugis, Tanah Merah stations on East-West Line from Nov 15
SMRT will be implementing early closure between Bugis and Tanah Merah stations along the East-West Line from Nov 15, with other stretches facing early closure in batches.
The early closure - train services between the nine MRT stations will end half an hour earlier from Sunday to Thursday (except for the eve of public holidays) till the end of the year - will allow SMRT engineering staff to replace around 25 per cent more sleepers every night.
To minimise inconvenience to commuters travelling on the East-West Line, early closure of the stations will be separated into three phases, starting with the stretch between Bugis and Tanah Merah on Nov 15 till end 2015. The second phase, which will affect stations between Joo Koon and Jurong East and between Pasir Ris and Tanah Merah, will commence in early 2016, with the final phase affecting stations between Jurong East and Outram Park to be concluded by early 2017.
