EgyptAir flight to Beijing lands in Uzbekistan after bomb threat
[DUBAI] An EgyptAir flight traveling from Cairo to Beijing was diverted to Uzbekistan after receiving a bomb threat.
Cairo international airport notified the pilot and crew of the threat on board flight MS955, which was diverted to the nearest airport in Uzbekistan, an airlines spokeswoman said. The airline is dealing with it as a real threat and the plane, passengers and luggage are being searched.
The incident comes after an EgyptAir plane crashed into the Mediterranean last month killing all 66 on board. The search for the black boxes continues and the reasons for the crash remain unclear. In March, an EgyptAir flight was hijacked to Cyprus by a man claiming to be wearing an explosive belt, but later found to be unarmed.
