Governing council set up for ATM research institute

[SINGAPORE] A governing council has been established for Singapore's first Air Traffic Management Research Institute (ATMRI), which is being jointly developed by the Civil Aviation Authority of Singapore (CAAS) and the Nanyang Technological University (NTU).

On Feb 5 last year, CAAS and NTU signed a Memorandum of Agreement to establish the institute dedicated to research and development (R&D) to improve air traffic management (ATM) in Singapore and the region.

CAAS director-general Yap Ong Heng and NTU provost Freddy Boey are co-chairs of the council. Other members include NATS UK chief Richard Deakin, International Air Transport Association (Iata) regional director Ken McLean and the Singapore Air Force's Chief of Staff (Air Staff), BG Lim Yeong Kiat.
