Grab launches bike-sharing marketplace app GrabCycle
BIKE-SHARING services oBike, GBikes, Anywheel and Popscoot will be available in a single app, South-east Asian ride-hailing service Grab revealed on Friday.
The app, GrabCycle Beta, is a pilot project by GrabVentures, the innovation arm set up by Grab to test new mobility and payment concepts.
With the launch, Grab also announced Sentosa as its first GrabCycle venue partner. The partnership will allow users of the four bike-sharing services to park the bicycles at any of the GrabCycle bike parking stations across the island.
This will be rolled out at other GrabCycle venue-partner locations at a later date, Grab said.
Through the project, Grab has partnered YCH, local supply-chain solutions company, to manage proper parking and rebalancing of GrabCycle vehicles at venue partners' locations.
Said Reuben Lai, head of GrabVentures: "With GrabCycle, we move one step closer towards our vision of being a true multi-modal platform with transport options to suit every need."
Jacqueline Tan, assistant chief executive, Sentosa Development Corporation, said: "Giving our guests more convenient access to bicycles through GrabCycle strengthens mobility across the island and allows visitors to discover hidden corners of this island."
