[SINGAPORE] Asia-Pacific airlines' freight volume grew 4.9 per cent year on year in June, outstripping the broader industry which chalked up growth of 2.3 per cent, as the region continues to experience a significant pick-up in air freight demand.
Globally, growth in air freight volumes (in freight-tonne-kilometres) eased in June from the 4.9 per cent growth in May, according to the monthly air freight report from the International Air Transport Association (Iata). Capacity was up 2.6 per cent in June and freight load factor (FLF) worked out to 44.9 per cent. However, the performance this year is still a marked improvement over 2013's lacklustre performance.
For H1-14, cargo volumes have expanded by 4.1 per cent year on year, while 2013 as a whole registered growth of just 1.4 per cent.
