GROUND-HANDLING provider dnata Singapore has engaged Singapore-headquartered Laminaar Aviation Infotech to deliver next-generation application software for its operations at Changi Airport.
Laminaar creates innovative applications software for the global aviation industry, including a proprietary applications software suite called ARMS that has been used by airlines for two decades. ARMS is now available for airports, and its Airport Ground Handling Sub-System will be the foundational block for dnata Singapore's new system.
Said dnata's Asia-Pacific chief executive officer (CEO) Dirk Goovaerts: "We chose Laminaar after the convincing demonstration of their turnkey next-generation application, which aligns with our company's continuous drive towards digital acceleration."
The new system is expected to enhance efficiency, reduce turnaround time and enable the airport ground operations to go paperless. It will include a machine learning-based predictive analytics component to optimise contingency resources, handle disruptions and help achieve on-time-performance for dnata's airline clients.
The system is to be delivered in phases, with a roll-out of the base module in mid-2021 and final deployment to be completed by mid-2022. Subject matter experts from dnata and Laminaar, and development and project teams from Singapore and India will support the build effort.
Laminaar CEO Vivek Sheorey noted that being chosen for the project by dnata, a global player, is "a matter of great prestige" for the company. "It also stands testimony for the growing acceptance of Laminaar's belief in unified and integrated resource management solutions for efficient aviation operations," he said.
