NOTWITHSTANDING a rebranding and hard re-set, Malaysia Airlines (MAS) must get out of fire-fighting mode and sit down to implement a proper structure for orderly output, its chief executive Christoph Mueller said on Monday, adding that previous revamps might not have been sufficiently radical or structural as none proved sustainable over the longer term.

Even so, he pointed out it was too early in the day to say whether the new carrier, Malaysia Airlines Bhd (MAB) - the entity taking over from Malaysia Airlines Systems Bhd that is to begin operations in September - would succeed where other attempts had failed.
