MAS to spring biggest layoff in Malaysia's corporate history
Staff expected to receive notices on job status latest by Friday

SOME 8,000 staff of Malaysia Airlines (MAS) will soon receive the bleak news that they will be laid off under a large-scale staff cutback plan by the embattled state-owned carrier that could cost some RM1.6 billion (S$592 million).
But the "separation plan", deemed the largest layoff in Malaysia's corporate history, to revive the ailing and tragedy-struck airline is not without its share of challenges.
