MPA expands MOU with DNV GL to include autonomous systems, intelligent shipping
SINGAPORE'S Maritime and Port Authority (MPA) has renewed a research agreement with classification society DNV GL to expand its ambit to cover intelligent shipping systems.
This means that the research will now also cover autonomous vessels and drones for maritime purposes, or the use of data analytics to create robust and optimal shipping solutions, MPA said in a release on Friday night.
The renewal of the memorandum of understanding (MOU) on research and development between MPA and DNV GL was signed in Norway.
Beyond intelligent shipping systems, the MOU also covers research on environmentally friendly ports, marine environment and resources, and the organisation of thought leadership forums.
