REGULAR readers of Strait Talk will be aware that ferry safety, or the lack of it, is something that particularly concerns this columnist.
Part of it is because it is something I have personal experience of. When carrying out research in Indonesia nearly 40 years ago, I spent a lot of time on small ferries and other craft.
The dangerous conditions, and routine gross overloading, of many small ferries scared me silly then.
