FOG disrupted US pre-Christmas travel with more than 2,500 delays at airports including New York's LaGuardia, where two planes clipped each other while taxiing.
American Airlines Flight 1104 was rolling to its gate after arriving from Dallas when its left horizontal stabiliser struck the winglet of a Denver-bound Southwest Airlines jet, according to e-mailed statements from the carriers and US officials. The Federal Aviation Administration is investigating.
