Singapore
PSA International looks set to extend its footprint in Panama, with expansion on its existing container terminal there to be completed around mid-2017. The port operator is also reported to be in the running for a second terminal lined under the West Corozal transhipment port that is under development.
The new capacity of the expanded PSA Panama International Terminal (PPIT) is projected to be available from the middle of June 2017, a spokesperson told The Business Times. PPIT expansion costing some US$450 million, will see the terminal expanded into a 2 million TEU (20- foot equivalent unit) facility. The aim of the expansion project is to develop infrastructure that is ready to serve container vessels of up to 18,000 TEUs.
