Qantas considers offering ultra-long-haul routes
Sydney
AUSTRALIAN flag carrier Qantas, which is planning to launch ultra-long-haul flights to New York and London, is keen on running more direct flights to Europe and the Americas, now that its Perth-to-London route has successfully launched.
Following the debut of the Perth-London service on Boeing's 787-9 jet - a journey lasting 17 hours and 20 minutes - Qantas aims to operate what it calls "Project Sunrise", under which it would operate non-stop flights out of Sydney to London, and to New York by 2022.
