A SLOW-MOVING storm pushed Boston to a record for the most snow in 30 days, shutting its classrooms and transit system, as another system threatens more for Thursday.

As of midday, Logan International Airport had received 69.2 inches or 176 centimetres, the most ever in 30 days, and the snow was still coming down, said Matthew Belk, a National Weather Service meteorologist in Taunton, Massachusetts. The old record was 58.8 inches in the period ended Feb 7, 1978.
